BUENA VISTA/ASHBURY HEIGHTS
Buena Vista Park, designated in 1867, making it the oldest in the San Francisco Park system, is the centerpiece of the Buena Vista and adjacent Ashbury Park neighborhoods. Homes here include some of the finest mansions in the city, as well as Victorian and Edwardian residences that have been converted over the years to multi-unit dwellings. Condominiums include those converted from St. Joseph’s Hospital, built in 1928 and appearing briefly in Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic film “Vertigo.” The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. Overall, quiet streets and beautiful trees complement the much sought-after real estate.
The Buena Vista Neighborhood Association is one of the largest and most active groups of its kind in San Francisco.
